# SPF record generator

## Cold email tools don’t need their own SPF entry

Most cold email tools send through the Google or Microsoft inboxes you connect to them, so your inbox provider’s entry (Google Workspace or Microsoft 365) already covers them. Adding an include for the cold email tool does nothing except use up lookups. You only add an entry for a service that sends from its own servers.

## Questions

### What should my SPF record look like?

One line that starts with v=spf1, lists each service that sends for you (for Google Workspace that’s include:_spf.google.com), and ends with ~all. For example: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:sendgrid.net ~all.

### I already have an SPF record. Do I add another one?

No. Edit the one you have. Two SPF records break SPF entirely. Enter your domain here and the generator starts from your current record, so you only add what’s missing.

### What if my domain never sends email?

Publish v=spf1 -all. It tells every email server that nothing may send as that domain, which stops people using a parked domain for spoofing.

### How many services can I include?

Your whole record may use at most 10 DNS lookups, and big providers use several each. After you build the record, test it here: we count every lookup it really needs. Once it’s published, the [SPF checker](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/spf-checker) counts them again on your live record.
