## How to work out an invoice due date

Add the days in the payment terms to the date on the invoice. Count calendar days, weekends included, starting with the day after the invoice date: an invoice dated October 15, 2026 on net 30 is due November 14, 2026.

Terms count from the invoice date unless your contract says otherwise, such as from delivery or from when the invoice was received.

## What net 30 means

Net 30 means the full amount on the invoice is due within 30 days of the invoice date. Net 7, net 15, net 60 and net 90 work the same way, with that many days.

Shorter terms get you paid sooner. Longer terms can help win a client, but you wait longer for the money. If you pay sales commission once the money comes in, the [commission calculator](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/commission-calculator) works out each payout.

## End of month terms

Here, end of month means the invoice is due on the last day of the month it’s dated in: an invoice dated October 15, 2026 is due October 31, 2026.

Some invoices use EOM to mean the terms start counting at the end of the month, as in net 30 EOM. This calculator doesn’t work those out.

## Weekends and holidays

Net terms count calendar days, so the due date doesn’t move when it falls on a weekend or a holiday, unless your terms say it does. Holidays differ by country, so the calculator doesn’t count them.

## Late fees

A late fee is a charge added when an invoice isn’t paid by its due date. Put it in your payment terms and on the invoice before you charge it, and check the law where you and your client work, since some places limit late fees.

This calculator adds one simple late fee: a flat amount, or a percent of the invoice. 1.5% of a $2,000 invoice is $30, for $2,030 in all. It doesn’t charge interest that builds up month after month.

From today’s date on your device to the due date, in calendar days. On the due date itself it says it’s due today, and after that it counts the days overdue.
