# Follow-up email generator

> Write a follow-up email after no response, a call or a proposal. Get a short email built around one easy question, plus when to send it. Free, no sign-up.

Say what you’re following up on: an email with no reply, a call or meeting, or a proposal. We write a short follow-up and tell you when to send it.

Use the tool in a browser at [/tools/follow-up-email-generator](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/follow-up-email-generator). It is free and needs no sign-up.

## When to send a follow-up email

- First follow-up: 3 business days after your first email. Wait much longer and your first email is easy to forget.
- Second follow-up: about a week after the first one.
- Last follow-up: a week or two after that. Then stop.
- After a call or meeting: the same day, while it’s fresh for both of you.
- After a proposal: 2 business days after you send it, or the day before any decision date you agreed on.

## How many follow-ups to send

Two or three after your first email is enough for most people. Past that, another email is more likely to annoy than to get a reply, and unsubscribes and spam reports can hurt how your other email lands. If your last follow-up gets no answer, try again in a few months with something new, or try someone else at the company. For a new first email, start with the [cold email template generator](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/cold-email-template-generator).

## What to write

- Reply to your last email, so the whole conversation stays in one thread.
- Keep a follow-up after silence to two or three sentences.
- Give a new reason to answer: a result, an example or an idea for them.
- Ask one small question that’s easy to answer, even with a no.
- Leave out “just checking in”, “bumping this up” and any hint of guilt. They give the reader nothing to reply to.

## Questions

### How long should I wait to follow up after no response?

About 3 business days after your first email, then about a week between follow-ups. After a call, follow up the same day.

### How do you politely follow up on an email with no response?

Reply in the same thread, keep it to two or three sentences and ask one easy question. For example: “Any thoughts on filling empty chairs midweek? Happy to send a short example if that’s easier than a call.” By the second follow-up, add something new, like a result or an idea for them.

### What should a last follow-up email say?

That you’ll stop here, without guilt, and one easy way to answer. Asking who else at the company looks after it often gets a reply, even when the answer is no.

### Should a follow-up email have a new subject line?

Not when you’re following up on silence: reply to your last email so it stays in the same thread and they can see what you sent. A recap after a call is a new email, so give it a plain subject like “Notes from our call”.

### Does this work for a job application or interview?

It’s written for sales, but the same rules hold: be brief, add something new and ask one question. After an application or interview, wait about a week before you follow up.

### Is it free, and does it use AI?

It’s free, with no sign-up. It doesn’t use AI: it fills in a template written by people, right in your browser, so nothing you type leaves the page.
