# Email extractor

> Paste any text or choose a file to pull out every email address, with repeats removed. Copy the list or download a CSV. Runs in your browser, no sign-up.

Paste any text or choose a file, and get every email address in it, each listed once. Copy the list or download it as a CSV. It runs in your browser, so your text never leaves your computer.

Use the tool in a browser at [/tools/email-extractor](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/email-extractor). It is free and needs no sign-up.

## What this extractor finds

- Addresses anywhere in the text: in sentences, in lists, and in the columns of a spreadsheet you paste or save as CSV.
- Addresses with a name in front, like Sam Lee <sam@acme.com>, and addresses inside email links.
- Addresses written to get past scrapers, like sam [at] acme [dot] com, and the codes a web page’s source uses for @ and the dot.
- Each address once, in lower case, in the order it first appears. Sam@Acme.com and sam@acme.com count as one.
- Not things that only look like addresses, such as image names (logo@2x.png).

## How to get the text in

- From a spreadsheet: copy the column and paste it, or save the sheet as CSV and choose the file.
- From an email thread: open it, select everything, headers included, and paste it.
- From a web page: right-click the page, choose View Page Source, then copy it all and paste it. The source includes addresses the page only shows as links.
- From a document: copy the text and paste it. For a PDF or Word file, save it as plain text first.

## What it doesn’t do

It doesn’t visit websites or search the web. It reads only the text you give it, on your own computer, and nothing is uploaded.

It checks that each address is written correctly, not that the mailbox exists. Addresses with letters outside A to Z (josé@…) are left out, because many email tools can’t send to them. So are the rare addresses with symbols like # or ! in them, so that part of a link or a word never comes out looking like an address. To flag role addresses and likely typos such as gmial.com before you send, paste the list into the [email list cleaner](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/email-list-cleaner).

## Questions

### What does an email extractor do?

It reads a block of text, such as an email thread, a spreadsheet or a web page’s source, and lists every email address in it. You get a clean list instead of hunting through the text by hand.

### Is my text uploaded or stored?

No. The extractor runs in your browser. The text you paste and the files you choose are read on your computer and never sent to us or saved.

### Can it extract emails from a website?

Not by visiting it. Right-click the page, choose View Page Source, then copy everything and paste it here. That finds addresses in links too.

### Can it extract emails from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copy the cells and paste them, or save the sheet as CSV and choose the file. Excel files themselves (.xlsx) can’t be read directly, so save them as CSV first.

### Why do some addresses in the CSV start with an apostrophe?

Any cell in the CSV download that starts with -, +, = or @ gets an apostrophe (') in front, so spreadsheets don’t treat it as a formula. An address can start with -, + or =, so a few addresses get one. Copy gives every address exactly as written. If your sending tool keeps the apostrophe, remove it.

### Does it remove duplicates?

Yes. Each address is listed once, whatever its capitals. Addresses that differ in other ways, like j.doe@gmail.com and jdoe@gmail.com, stay separate, because to most systems they are different addresses.

### How much text can I paste?

Up to 10 MB of text at a time, which is well over 100,000 lines of a typical spreadsheet. If you go past that, we search the first part and tell you.

### Why is an address missing from the list?

Usually because it isn’t written as one: it’s spelled out in words (sam at acme dot com), shown in an image, or broken by a space or a line break. Addresses with letters outside A to Z are left out on purpose.

## Turning these into a campaign?

On paid plans, when you upload leads to a campaign, Acquisity skips repeats, invalid addresses, people on your blocklist and people already in another campaign you haven’t archived, and shows you what it skipped. [Cold Email Agent](https://www.acquisity.ai/agents/cold-email).
