# Email deliverability checker

> Check your email deliverability: SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX for your domain in one verdict, with what each means for the inbox. Free, no sign-up.

Type your domain to see whether it’s set up for inboxes to trust the email you send. We check SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX, give you one verdict, and say what each one means for reaching the inbox.

Use the tool in a browser at [/tools/email-deliverability-checker](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/email-deliverability-checker). It is free and needs no sign-up.

## What this checker looks at

- SPF: whether your domain lists the services allowed to send as you, within the 10-lookup limit.
- DKIM: whether your domain publishes a key inboxes use to check your email’s signature, under the names common services use.
- DMARC: whether you tell inboxes what to do with email that pretends to be you, and get reports about it.
- MX: whether your domain can receive email, so replies don’t bounce.

## What it doesn’t test

It checks your domain’s setup, the part of deliverability you control in DNS. It doesn’t send a test email, so it can’t tell whether a particular email lands in the inbox, whether your domain is on a blocklist, or how your sending history looks to Gmail and Outlook.

Setup comes first, though. Without SPF, DKIM and DMARC, even a well-written email is more likely to land in spam.

## How to improve your email deliverability

- Fix anything this checker flags, starting with SPF and DMARC.
- Send cold email from a separate domain, so your main domain’s reputation stays safe.
- Start slowly with a new inbox: a few emails a day, not hundreds.
- Keep bounces low by [cleaning your list](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/email-list-cleaner) before you send.
- Write to one person: short, plain, and with one link at most.
- Stop emailing people who ask you to, and watch for spam complaints.

## Questions

### What is email deliverability?

Whether your email reaches the inbox, rather than the spam folder or nowhere at all. It depends on how your domain is set up, your sending history, and the email itself.

### Is this an inbox placement test?

No. An inbox placement test sends real emails to test mailboxes and reports where they land. This checker reads the records inboxes look up for your domain, which is where most deliverability problems start.

### How is this different from the SPF checker?

It runs the same checks but gives a quick health check: one verdict and what each record means for the inbox. The [SPF checker](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/spf-checker) shows every record in detail with the exact fix. Use this one to see where you stand, and the SPF checker when you sit down to fix things.

### Do Gmail and Yahoo require SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

Since 2024, Gmail and Yahoo require anyone sending in bulk to set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and every sender to set up at least SPF or DKIM. Even below their bulk thresholds, all three make your email easier to trust.

### Why does DKIM say Unknown?

Each email service stores its DKIM key under its own name (a selector), and we can only try the names common services use. If yours uses another, find the selector in your email service’s DKIM settings and enter it in the full check, or under More options before you check here.

### How long do DNS changes take to show up?

Most DNS providers publish a change within minutes. Servers that looked up the old record can keep it until its TTL runs out, which can take up to 48 hours. Run this check again after you save.

## Sending cold email? Keep it off your main domain.

Acquisity sends cold email from separate domains, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up for you. [Cold Email Agent](https://www.acquisity.ai/agents/cold-email).
