# Cold call script generator

> Build a cold call script in a minute: an opener, why you’re calling, questions to ask, the ask, answers to common objections and a voicemail. Free, no sign-up.

Finish a few sentences about who you call and why. We write a cold call script, from the opener to the voicemail, with answers to the usual brush-offs.

Use the tool in a browser at [/tools/cold-call-script-generator](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/cold-call-script-generator). It is free and needs no sign-up.

## What a good cold call script covers

- An opener that says who you are and why you’re calling, before you ask for their time.
- The problem you help with and what you do about it, in two sentences.
- A few questions that get them talking about how things are today.
- One clear ask, with two times to choose from.
- Short answers to the brush-offs you’ll hear most.
- A voicemail for when nobody picks up.

## Open by saying why you’re calling

People decide in the first few seconds whether to stay on the line. Say your name, your company and the problem you’re calling about, then ask for a moment to explain. Skip “Did I catch you at a bad time?”: it hands them an easy “yes, it is” and a reason to hang up.

## Handling the brush-offs

Most calls that end early end on one of a handful of lines: not interested, we already have someone, there’s no budget, I’m not the right person, send me an email. Don’t argue. Agree, ask one question that keeps the door open, and let them go politely if the answer is still no.

## Voicemails and call screening

Keep a voicemail under 20 seconds, say what it’s about and that you’ll send an email, and don’t ask for a call back. The [cold email template generator](https://www.acquisity.ai/tools/cold-email-template-generator) writes that email. One or two voicemails per person is plenty. Some phones now answer unknown numbers themselves and ask the caller why they’re calling, so have a one-line answer ready: your name, your company and the reason.

## Questions

### What is a good cold call script?

One that sounds like a person, not a script: an opener that says why you’re calling, the problem you help with in two sentences, a question or two, one clear ask and answers to the common brush-offs. Use it as a guide and say it in your own words.

### How do you start a cold call?

Say who you are and why you’re calling, then ask for a moment. For example: “Hi Sam, it’s Lee from Acme. I’m calling about last-minute cancellations at your clinic. Can I take 30 seconds to tell you why, and you tell me if it’s worth a conversation?”

### How long should a cold call be?

Your opener and reason should take well under a minute. After that, let it run while they’re talking, and wrap up with the ask once they’ve heard enough.

### What do you say when someone says they’re not interested?

Agree, then ask one question: “Fair enough. Is that because it isn’t a problem for you, or just not right now?” If it’s timing, ask when to call back. If it’s not a problem for them, thank them and move on.

### What should a cold call voicemail say?

Your name, your company and what you’re calling about, in under 20 seconds, and that you’ll send an email with the details. Don’t ask them to call back; few do.

### Is it free, and does it use AI?

It’s free, with no sign-up. It doesn’t use AI: it fills in a template written by people, right in your browser, so nothing you type leaves the page.

## Calling your list?

Acquisity’s CRM has a power dialer that calls a saved list one person after another, and you take notes on each call as you go. Phone calling and the power dialer are turned on for your workspace by the Acquisity team. [CRM](https://www.acquisity.ai/platform/crm).
